I just thought of something else. You don't want the bookcase and bear-rex fighting for attention in the composition, so make sure they aren't visually the same size within the picture plane. The same thing goes if you add the open book in the foreground with the fairytale illustration. The image will be more dynamic if they're all different sizes (even slightly different). Of course emphasis and focal point are also influenced by color, value, contrast, etc. (all of which you know), but I thought I'd mention it. I hope that made sense.
